I love science, I love learning about our universe and how it all formed. If you’re like me and have a weird obsession with learning about our universe then you’ll appreciate this list of my top 10 science documentaries focused primarily on space and physics you have to watch!

10. The Inexplicable Universe

A six part series hosted by none other than Neil Degrasse Tyson in which he delves into things like wormholes, time, evolution and how the universe works. Basically its Cosmos on a lower budget , reminds me less of a science tv show and more like a one on one discussion with Dr. Tyson over a couple of cold beers!

9. mysteries of the unseen world

A fascinating film about all the things that we either dont notice or cant see with the naked eye, beautifully shot using cutting edge tech this film is a must see!

8. The Science of Dr. Who.

If You dont know who Doctor Who is, well, just stop reading this article and reevaluate your life. In this documentary Professor Brian Cox takes an audience of celebrity guests, including Charles Dance and Rufus Hound, and members of the public on a journey into the wonderful universe of the Doctor and the science behind some of his most well known feats. Shot from the lecture hall of the Royal Institution of Great Britain.

7.  Horizon BBC – Super Massive Black Holes.

Horizon examines supermassive black holes and the recent discovery that they are crucial to the formation of galaxies. I’ve always found black holes fascinating and this documentary is nothing less than fascinsting!

6. Particle Fever.

For the very first time, a film gives us a front row seat to one of the most significant scientific discoveries, the search for clues to how things were at the moment of the big bang, and eventually the discovery of the Higgs Boson.

5. NOVA: Meteor Strike

A documentary about  the Chelyabinsk meteor impact as scientists work to determine, for the first time, the physical details of a large meteor strike.

4. The Search For Life: The Drake Equation

The Drake Equation was a BBC Four documentary about the Drake equation, used to estimate the number of extraterrestrial civilisations. It was presented by Dallas Campbell. One of those rare documentaries that gets your imagination running!

3. Human Planet

Human Planet is an awe-inspiring, jaw-dropping, heart-stopping landmark series that marvels at mankind’s incredible relationship with nature in the world today. Will leave you inspired and wanting to change the world!

2. The Code

The Code is a mind bending documentary about the mathematics of the universe and the “code” that creates everything we see in the universe.

1. Cosmos: A Spacetime Odyssey (2014)

With absolutely incredible production value, Neil Degrasse Tyson once again leads us on a incredible journey through time and space, learning about time, evolution, gravity, black holes and everything else in between. A MUST see for everyone whether or not you’re a science enthusiast, this show is made to be accessible by everyone.
