Two people who don’t really know what they are doing with their lives find what they want in each other.
I wanted to like this movie, I really did. It stars Jenna Fischer of “The Office” fame and it seemed like it could be a quaint but endearing romance movie. But, instead of wielding a scalpel to play with your emotion it ends up using a hammer to try and smash every bit of sentiment its attempting to get across into you. Nothing in this film is done in half measures. Almost every character in the film who is not one of our main two love interests is a remarkably huge douche done to such an extreme that it becomes unbelievable.
Every message they try and get across is put so bluntly you can’t help but miss it. “Oh this character is giving a speech that will be brought up later in the film and that directly relates to our two main characters, better keep cutting back to them throughout the speech. It would be awful if the audience missed this connection”. In it’s attempts to drive its point home this film ruins its appeal.
On top of all this the acting is fine at best, I doubt I will remember the performance of a single character from this film, or really anything from it for that matter. The soundtrack, the performances, the storyline, directing… just everything is beyond bland. I can’t suggest this movie to anyone and have to give it a 2.5/10
